Worst 5 Star Service Experience Onboard Kingfisher IT 0204

It sounds like a real melodrama, but incidentally today morning I opened the News Papers, I read about 5 Star rating for Kingfisher Airlines. I was happy about one of my preferred airlines, as I was slated to take the 1035 hrs IT0204 from Bangalore to Delhi. So far so good, but when I reached Airport at 900 hrs, I was told that the flight is 45 minutes late due to Air Traffic Congestion in Delhi…Okaies no problems, waited but the wait was not getting over. The announced and communicated Boarding time was 1050hrs, but the boarding was announced only at 1114hrs. I thought wow, may be the 5 star service would complete boarding in 6 minutes.

So ultimately the boarding completed at around 1135 hrs and doors were closed only for the Captain to announce at around 1150hrs that we are No.#6 in departures and will take another 15 minutes for us to be airborne. I again thought no problem as this is usual ATC problem. But we were airborne only at around 1220 hrs or 1225 hrs. Still I said no issues. But the real heroics of the So much hyped 5 star service started after that.

I just happened to navigate on the route direction page to identify that the flight has diverted back to Bangalore just after Crossing Tumkur and I could see the Panic on the face of Onboard Staff (Air Hostesses), one such incidentally was sitting across me (26 F) after the worried hurdle by them in the middle of the Aircraft. When I highlighted the Navigation Chart to her and inquired about the diversion and the reason to turn back towards Bangalore, she had no answer and simply made a statement “We Will Let You Know”. It had just been 20 mins from the time we were airborne. In another 5 minutes Captain announces that Due to Technical Snag, we are headed back to Bangalore and with that there the airhostesses disappeared, except the one sitting opposite me. Approximately one hour from the time we were airborne, the flight was grounded back at Bangalore Airport (around 1327 hrs). In the whole chaos, the Guest Service hit the air and there was NO Service except the welcome drinks. People were worried and the announcement was made, “THE FLIGHT HAS LANDED AND IN CASE YOU DO NOT WANT TO FLY WITH US, YOU MAY DE-PLANE” well certainly was not at all polite from any angle. Passengers tried to seek information as to what has happened and how much time will it take, but seems the Crew member were as Clueless as we the passengers.

Another round of applause for the Onboard crew as it had been another 15 minutes that we got grounded at Bangalore Airport and there was NO SIGN OF any Snacks that was to be provided. Yeah the Staff indeed had called for some Cookies and Juices that were brought on board at around 1410 hrs. Still the Crew was reluctant to offer the service to Onboard Passengers because the Supervisor – Tenzil was too busy to instruct them to do so. I happened to Speak to one Crew Member – Puneet and well the reply was plain clear and straight – “Can’t do this till our senior instructs us”. I tried to sensitize that the passengers might get irked, and as I said this one passenger approached her asking her If any snacks would be served. She on contrary mentions Yes we do and are just waiting for instructions, and adds, even we haven’t had anything since morning. I was aghast hearing this from a Onboard crew member, I could understand the plight but this is not what they are supposed to tell passengers. This creates a negative impression, on this I again tried to sensitize Puneet, but again she was ADAMANT. I thought under such situations it’s the proactive thinking and actions that help, but alas she didn’t understand that. I told her if your supervisor is not giving instructions, ASK her….thankfully she did and the cookies and juice were distributed. DO YOU CALL THIS AS A PART OF 5 Star Service?????, I am surprised.

The flight somehow took off and we were airborne again at around 1435 hrs or so to reach Delhi around 1705 hrs, where I thought I would provided my feedback to the Duty Manager about the Onboard Staff, but seems the Duty manager knew that they might have to bear the burnt so I guess they went busy with some meeting within, and nobody was available except one poor soul – Supervisor.

So at the end of entire trip the 5 Star rating that I would associate for Kingfisher (with my latest experience) –

Star one – Poor Ground handling by staff where they were not even bothered about the passenger even after 1 hrs delayed boarding

Star two – Poor On Board Communication within the Crew Members

Star Three – Non-responsiveness of Staff – Puneet in particular

Star Four – Adamant staff to listen to a Constructive Suggestion – Puneet in Particular

Star Five – POOR Show by the Onboard Supervisor to take Proactive and quick Decisions, or may be she was too worried helping Business Class Passengers – Tenzil (I guess I remember it right) in particular

I hope that this sort of un professional show by the staff will be taken up seriously within Kingfisher, and adequate training requirements would be identified for the respective Crew Member.

Oh well I forgot One star could be added for KILLING time of the Passengers, I missed two meetings at my office, and the work spilled over to tomorrow. I guess the same would have happened with other passengers too. Loss of One Days’ Productivity, I guess you guys understand the COST OF TIME for someone in Business and Service Industry….

A Simple Apology doesn’t help, you got to find ways to ensure this DOES NOT REPEAT in future.

Will Government Declare National Mourning?

With the loss to Britain in the Olympic Qualifier, for the first time Indian Hockey team would not feature in the Olympic. The nation which goes crazy over the Cricket Gods and Cricket wins, the nation which mourns loss of Indian Cricket team, is sleeping. I see far too many forwards and far too many chain mails of the so called stars of Indian Cricket. We all follow Cricket, Cricket and Cricket. The Star of Indian Cricket rises with Cricket and sets with Cricket. I guess that’s why we are at a stage of World Hockey where we have not even qualified in the Olympic.

Oh, what a Shame!!!!! Yeah that’s what all of us would be sitting and saying while watching the news, but WHO’S RESPONSIBLE??? The Entire Nation, I would say. The nation that follows Cricket Like a Religion was sleeping in peace when the Indian Hockey Team was battling it out in Chile. I can bet not even 20% of you reading this ever knew that Indian Hockey Team was fighting for the chances to Qualify for Olympic in Santiago – Chile.

Hockey that was the pride of Nation when it comes to Olympic medals – Eight of them, the game which got India Players like Late Shri Dhyanchand, the one legend, today is in shambles. When we open the TV Channels, we find it’s the blame game every where, Media is trying to blame government, Government is trying to blame Hockey Federation, Hokey Federation is trying to blame someone else, but if we see closely, its we who are responsible. It’s the Media who’s responsible, it’s the lack of sponsorship that is responsible.

Though the Movie Chak De was shot on the Historic Win of Indian Hockey Team (Women), but what we saw was Cricketization of the Title Song. Media Played it all over when India won T20 world cup, Media Played when Cricket Team Triumphed elsewhere on the Cricket Contest. News Channels Beam hours of news when it comes to cricket, but I could hardly find couple of news channel who wired the News about Indian Hockey LOSS / WIN.

I am shocked and deeply Grieved to note the Sad Demise of Triumphant Indian Hockey. Am just wondering if Government would pass a Bill to declare the regular 5 days Mourning on the Demise of Art of its National Game – Hockey.

And how many of you knew Hockey is India’s National Game???

Good Show Team India - Seniors and Colts

It has been a wonderful achievement by Indian Cricket Teams – the Team India and the Colts (Under 19). We witnessed the performances par excellence by both and surely we loved it to the core of our hearts for we follow cricket like a religion in India. But is it right to be so glad and so ecstatic with these performances, as they still have to show the Consistency that we often witnessed as missing from Team India’s performances.

I might be taken as a pragmatic but being pragmatic does not always mean being pessimist. Being Pragmatic also stands for being realistic and practical. Our Heroes are raised high to the level of gods where we start worshiping them with just one or two good performances, and when they fail bitterly they just vanish from the scene. Reminds me of the warlords like Atul Bedade, Narendra Hirwani, Praveen Amre. Abey Kuruvilla, and the list may go on. In particular remember Chetan Sharma, he was just written off and forgotten after Javed Miandad had hit him for a 6 on the last ball of that unfaithful day in Sharjah. We hardly know where Atul Bedade and Narendra Hirwani are. But we have already started hailing the heroes of T20 world cup and now the winners of CB series.

The way BCCI has already announced the monetary benefits, Praveen Kumar awarded with the Kanshiram Khel Ratna and many more such cases around, I am getting skeptical to as to these guys might start getting high headed and forget their prime duty – “To serve the Indian Cricket and Take it to the Top of the Charts”.

I read in yesterday’s newspaper that With CB Series win India has declared the dawn of a new era in World Cricket and the downfall of Cricket Australia from the Rating Charts. This is being compared to the Change that was announced with Team Australia taking on the reigns from Team West Indies. But is it so?? Are we not over hyping the things? Aren’t we down playing the force of Team South Africa or Team Sri Lanka? And But Obvious Team Australia itself?

We all have already witnessed that the Team Australia has time and again stood the pressure of its aging team members retiring.

Still I would say Team India has to go long way.

Never the Less – Good Work Team India and Keep up the Momentum.

CB Series - Punter Believed his Team

Just came back to my seat after witnessing India's thrilling win over Australia in the Second CB Series Final Match. Ah I remember reading in the newspapers and hearing on the TV channels that Ponting had claimed that third final will not be required, how true, India Wrapped up the Win in First two Matches only.

That reminds me of one of Sachin's Interview where he had said, "we might wrap it up in Two matches only...who knows".

Now how befitting reply India has given to the Cricket Australia....winning the CB Series Finals by 2-0. and What a Befitting reply by Harbhajan to both Hayden and Symonds by accounting for both of them min both the finals (Claiming their wickets in first and contributing in Hayden's Run Out in Second and claiming Symonds' Wicket).

Am now just wondering what will Ponting write in his columns? how would he react to the LOSS that too by Two - Nil. Awe poor he...will have to scratch his brains out to come out of an excuse :))

So now here we stand the Triangular CB Series Winner is India with a White wash win after a wonderful all-round performance with every one chipping in.

And what a Boon in disguise to have included Praveen Kumar. He turned out to be a nightmare for the Australians. If Ishant was a pick of Bowler in Test, then Praveen Kumar proved his selection in the One Day Matches.

I hope by the time you guys read this and I get back home to switch on the TV for after match reports, Ponting would have had enough scratching of his brains to come out with an excuse of his life for the LOSS.

Ah and well will certainly wait for the REACTION by the Aussie Media on the LOSS of Australia to India......

Will there be a thinking Power or some obnoxious weed monkey power behind the LOSS ?????
